Save Point[]
A save point is shot with The Kid's gun to create or overwrite the current save file on the player's computer. When restarting the game (pressing r or reentering the game), The Kid will spawn from wherever he was when the Save Point was last shot. When changing the game's difficulty, the amount of save points change.
Appearance[]
Save points appear as yellow blocks with a red circle in its center. When shot the red circle will turn green, signifying the game has been saved. Save blocks also have the word "SAVE" on them.
On Medium difficulty, there are more save points, all of which are slightly darkened and labelled "WUSS." (Regular saves still say "SAVE" and appear normal.)
At the end of the last room before the final boss battle with The Father, there is a save point that appears slightly darker, has an orange circle instead of a red one, and has the word "EVIL" written over it (instead of "SAVE" or "WUSS"). When The Kid hits this save point it will begin to move towards him, killing him. (If you enter the boss room after shooting the fake save point, it will still kill you.) In Impossible mode, the "EVIL" save button can be killed.
The "EVIL" save point, despite being an enemy, CAN be used due to a bug - but only in Impossible mode. After it's killed, for a single frame, it will appear in its original place. If a bullet happens to be in that area during that frame, it will activate like a normal save point.
